The topic of gender is enormously relevant to both the individual and society. One`s gender profoundly influences one`s life, and gender issues regarding the most talked about of social issues. Women`s and men`s roles in American society are changing but people disagree on how much change is desirable. Scientists view gender as an important topic for study but they too disagree on important issues as whether the genders are significantly different and whether gender differences are largely the result of fundamental biological differences between the sexes or are due to culture. This book explores these issues by examining research evidence. In particular, it focuses on the role of social norms in the creation search evidence. In particular, it focuses on the role of social norms in the creation and perception of gender differences, how traditional gender roles are limiting to both men and women, and how we perceive gender differences to be much larger than the data justify because of our natural information-processing strategies.
