POPULATION AND HEALTH INDIA 2007 comprises of a selection of research papers presented at the Bhopal Seminar 2007: Contemporary Issues in Population and Health. The Bhopal Seminar was instituted in the year 2000 to promote research, discussion and debate on population related issues as they affect the quality of life of the people. Over the years, Bhopal Seminar has become an important platform for disseminating findings of research in population, health and development, especially for young researchers from different parts of the country.
PROFESSOR ALOK RANJAN is the Honorary Director of SHYAM Institute and Professor, Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi. Professor Ranjan has published 10 books and more than 80 research papers on various aspects of population health and development in his research career now spanning over 30 years. SHYAM Institute is a no profit voluntary research organisation established in 1985 to promote research in issues related to population, health and development with a focus on central India. The current research interests of the Institute involve integration of population factors in the social and economic development processes. The research carried out in the Institute is disseminated through SHYAM Studies in Population and Development.
